Kind of a funny story from this morning.  I went into Jordan’s shop to buy a couple of luggage tags.  He is the man that we gave the bibles to.  He was talking to another customer and saw me and almost jumped over his desk to come shake my hand and hug me.  He had given his friend the bibles we presented to him and his friend wanted him to be sure to thank us for him in person.  He didn’t think he was going to see us again so he was very happy and got excited.  He said he would have dishonored his friend if had not been able to thank us for him.  I walked around the store to find Kim then went back to where Jordan was and he was explaining to the other customer why he was so happy.  He was telling him that he was a Christian and that we had given him two bibles.  And that he was overly happy because he thought we are only giving him one.  The customer happened to be a gentleman from our group so I got to share a little about Jordan to him.

Well, things are winding down here.  We have our consulate appointment this afternoon where we will have a mass oath that we will never abandon or abuse the children.  Then we get Hannah’s travel visa and permission for her to enter the USA.  She will then be officially a US citizen and we will be free to go home.

We just got back from the US Consulate where we took the “official” oath not to harm or abandon the children and we received Hannah’s passport and VISA.  We are clear to return home.  YEAH!!

We leave the hotel at 05:30 tomorrow morning (4:30 pm cst Friday) and our flight from Guangzhou leaves for Hong Kong at 08:30 am (7:30 pm cst Friday).  We depart Hong Kong at 12:45 pm (11:45 pm cst Friday).  That is the looooooong flight (13 ½ hours).  We arrive in Chicago at 2;22 pm cst Saturday.  We depart Chicago at 5:00 pm and finally arrive home in St Louis at 6:13 pm Saturday.  What a day it is going to be.  So after about 15 hours in the air and 8 hours in airports we will be home with Hannah.  There are going to be lots of babies on the flight from Hong Kong to Chicago.  Pray for us J.

Kim is looking for the Ruby Red Slippers.  Just click three times and you are home.  If only it was that easy.  I want to go home I want to go home I want......

We have enjoyed our stay in China.  We have learned a lot about the people and customs.  The Chinese are hard working and very friendly.  We have gotten to know a few people whom we will miss.  It is hard to say goodbye to Hannah’s birth land but we are eager to get her home.

Things I have learned.

Never walk in front of a cab
Water Buffalo are slow
Negotiating is fun
There is no such thing as a line in China
Squatty potties aren’t that bad (from Kim)
Cab rides are like amusement park rides.  Jump in and hold on it’s gonna be a wild ride.
There’s no place like home
